February Update – A Month of Preparation and Vision

Mar 18
2 min read

February marked the beginning of a new season for me as I started working and volunteering at CDR. While I’ve stepped into this role with excitement, I’m currently balancing it with teaching English in the mornings here in Cochabamba, since I don’t yet have the financial support to serve full-time. My hope and prayer is to eventually transition fully into ministry as support grows.

This month was less about launching programs and more about preparing for what’s ahead. Since there weren’t active volunteer events yet, I spent time observing, identifying needs, and beginning to build plans for different areas of ministry.

One of the first projects I worked on was painting a mural in the café space. This area is open during the day to anyone, so creating a warm and inviting environment felt important. It’s been special to contribute in a creative way that helps make the space feel more welcoming to the community.

I also began developing a plan for kids ministry during Wednesday night church. There are children ranging from ages 2–13 who attend, and I saw a need for a space where they can be engaged and cared for during the service. We’ve already had our first meeting with volunteers, and we now have four people who are excited to be part of this! It’s encouraging to see the beginning of something that will not only serve the kids, but also support families and the overall church environment.

Another area that stood out to me was the need for stronger community and connection. I realized that many people didn’t truly know each other yet, and there also wasn’t an easy way for new people—especially those unfamiliar with CDR—to come and get involved in a relaxed setting. From that, Crea y Conecta was born. This initiative will officially begin in March and is designed to bring people together through fun, creative activities while building genuine relationships. I’m especially excited because it allows me to use my gifts in leadership and teaching while creating a space where people feel seen, known, and connected.

Along with these projects, I’ve also been intentionally building relationships with others at CDR. I’ve especially connected with Nati, Melissa, and Nadia, and it’s been such a gift to start forming those friendships. Having people to serve alongside and grow with has already made this experience even more meaningful.

Looking ahead, I’m excited for March as volunteer opportunities begin, including visiting orphanages and going to Calatiut Market to hand out food to families who sleep inside the market. It feels like February has been a time of planting seeds, and I’m expectant to see how those seeds begin to grow in the coming weeks.

Thank you for being part of this journey with me. Your support, prayers, and encouragement mean so much as I continue stepping into what God has called me to here.
